1. To explain various models of change 2. To describe change interventions in an organisation and the role of the change agent in the change progress 3. To outline steps and processes in the successful management of a change effort 4. To explain the nature and optional format of leadership in a change programme 5. To outline the importance of learning for an organisation in ongoing change management

Syllabus:

Provides and introduction to the fundamental organisational behaviour issues involves in technology and innovation management û focusing on the problem of managing effective change in organisations. Leadership styles the various stages of and their implications for managing change and innovation; how to develop and change organisational cultures and the various stages of; how to manage transitional period in organisational change; how to design planning and control systems appropriate to the strategy and the culture of the organisation and how to use them as vehicles for change; analysing and overcoming resistance to change. Innovation as a management process, key features of successful innovation management. Developing an innovation strategy within the context of the national and competitive environment, and the firm's technological trajectories. External linkages in innovations, learning from markets and through alliances. Implementing effective innovation mechanisms. Creating and sustaining innovative organisations. Assessing and improving innovation management performance. Pre Course assessment of the participantsÆ change management skills. 1. The course is designed to equip course participants with an understanding of the complexity of mobilising change initiatives within organisations. 2. Understand innovation as a source of competitive advantage and a framework for integrating technological, market and organisational change. 3. Understanding and utilising the political and power bases within organisations and the role of leadership in managing innovation and implementing change.

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

Delivery is a hybrid of traditional distance education and online learning together with a number of face-to-face / on-line tutorials. In addition, there are online discussions moderated by a subject matter expert on elements of each module to reinforce the learning and maximise the benefit of the programme for participants.
